Reflections, Goal Setting and Planning for the New Year

Psst ... read to the very end to find out how we can help you achieve your 2021 goal! 😉

Hi #BossLadies,

As this year comes to an end I am sure many of you have taken time these past couple of days to reflect on this past year (I know 2020 has been quite the tough cookie, but hey, you made it and I'm sure you came out stronger than ever!!).

For the you who didn't get a chance sit down and reflect, don't worry, we can do it together 😇:

We, at Boss Lady Collective, believe in the power of reflection. Taking the time to gain insights from your past allows us to grow going forward. Written below are a couple of questions to get you started on your reflection.
  1. What went well in 2020?
  2. What did not go so well and how can we work to avoid this in the future
  3. What are some lessons that we can take away from 2020?

Take a moment to yourself and write down your learnings which you can refer back to whenever you need.

Goal Setting

Now there is never a bad time to set goals; they can be determined at any point in the year but it seems that New Years’ is a magical time for goal setting. When determining what goals you will be working towards it is important to keep in mind that you are a dynamic person and in many cases, you may require goals in different areas of your life.

Take a moment (before reading further) to write down your goals on a piece of paper. Not to worry about the goals being perfect, we will go back and refine them in the next section.

Now that you have your goals let's get you on the right path to crushing them! A secret tip to crushing our goals is by ensuring that they are SMART:

  • Specific. Make your goals as distinct as possible.
  • Measurable. what determines if you are successful in achieving your goals or not? How are you measuring yourself?
  • Actionable. what steps can you take to achieve your goal?
  • Realistic. we believe that if you can dream it you can achieve it, don’t allow anyone to tell yourself otherwise (even yourself)!
  • Time. what is the timeline that you have to achieve your goal?

Stay Motivated

We have learned that setting your goal is the easy part, the actual work comes in staying consistent with your goals. But we have some tricks to make it easier for you.

Visual Reminders

One of the most impactful methods that we find works in achieving goals is a visual reminder. This could be writing your goals down on a piece of paper and posting it in a place that you see every day or you can post an image that reminds you of your goal. Feel free to get creative with it because you will be looking at this reminder every day.

Writing on the Whiteboard

For example, one of our goals at Boss Lady Collective is to raise funding for our new venture through a crowdfunding campaign. As a way to remind ourselves of this goal, we have the following picture posted up. We ask ourselves how we can provide the most amount of value to others.

The reason we recommend posting your goals is that people are forgetful. We lead busy, packed and eventful lives, so let’s make it easy for ourselves by setting our environment up for success.

Break Your Goal Down into Smaller Steps

You have dreamed big and found yourself with a goal that seems unattainable but we know that with consistency, persistence, and dedication you got this. But in case you are still nervous, break your goal down into smaller steps. What are the ways that you can break down your lofty goals into smaller steps?

Using our goal as an example, we are running a successful crowdfunding campaign, but what are the tasks that go into this goal?

  1. We need to spread the word to our community so that they know that this is happening
  2. We need to create a video to showcase our next steps and provide full transparency about what money will be used for.
  3. For those that do not know about what crowdfunding is, we need to educate them about it

You get the idea, create mini-goals for yourself to have mini-wins, and keep moving forward.

Knowing Your Why

The stronger your "why" the more likely you are to achieve your goal.

A key to achieving your goal is finding out why you want to achieve it? What motivates you to do the daily work that your goal requires? Find your why and refer to it when you feel a lack of motivation.

And ... that's a Wrap!

Thank you for the amazing year that we have had together and we are thrilled to be entering 2021 with you as a part of our community. Together we are crushing our goals while strutting into the new year.

If you have a goal that you want to hit or achieve, let us know so we can help you with that!

At Boss Lady Collective, we care about providing students and young professionals with immense value. This is why, beyond designing comfortable, chic and professional workwear for our #bossladies, we also organize educational workshops & industry spotlight panels!

Looking ahead into the new year, we want to create and introduce a program to help #bossladies such as yourself, grow, learn and develop.

If you are interested in joining an accelerator program that can help you obtain your goals much easier, help us complete this mini questionnaire so we can know what type of skills/topics/goals you want to learn and achieve in 2021. We want to make sure we provide you with as much value as possible!

Sending you love, joy, and positive vibes,
Annie & Sav
